What type of certification is required to participate in Business Connect?
MBE/WBE Certification as a for profit business, regardless of size, located in the New York City Metropolitan area or Northern NJ (Bergen, Hudson, Essex Counties). The business must be owned, operated and controlled by minority or women group members. "Ownership" by minority or women means the business is at least 51% owned by such a group or individual. Additionally, the minority or women group members or individuals must control management and daily business operations.
What is the eligibility criteria for the program?
Businesses must: be established in the local region, be owned and operated by a woman or a minority, and provide one or more of the products and services listed within this site.
How much Super Bowl-related business should a successfully registered business expect?
Not every business will be contacted or receive a contract. Many factors contribute to this; number of participants, number of available contracts per year, etc. There are no set-asides for this program. Businesses will compete for contracts.
Are there other benefits for registered businesses participating in Business Connect?
The NFL and Super Bowl Host Committee seek to provide access to MWBE's in the community to Super Bowl related procurement. In addition, education, networking and positioning local businesses to better compete in the event industry is part of the benefit.
Are there any programs open to non-women or minority owned businesses?
While Business Connect is aimed at MWBE's, the Host Committee also engages with regional small businesses through community relations and charity legacy programs. In addition, the NFL's Playbook Workshop and Leadership Forum are available to small businesses.
What types of products/services are typically procured?

How many different product categories may be selected for each registered business?
Up to three.
Once the application is completed, what are the next steps?
Upon completion of the registration period. an on-line database of registered businesses will be made available on www.nynjsuperbowl.com.
When does the bid process begin?
The bid process can begin as early as June 2013 and continue up until the Super Bowl. Peak bidding activity takes place in Summer/Fall 2013.
Who are the puchasing entities involved?
NFL Direct (League, NFL Network, NFL Films), NFL Contractors (Party Planners West, SAFE Management, Game Day, etc.), Host Committee (Host Committee Sub-Contractors), NFL Affiliates (NFLPA, NFL Alumni, Media Outlets) and Corporate Sponsors or Partners.
Can registered businesses use NFL or Super Bowl related logos or marks?
Neither successful registration nor the obtaining of a contract through Business Connect gives the participant the right to use any NFL, Super Bowl or Super Bowl Host Committee logos or marks for any purpose unless the Host Committee and the NFL have specifically approved or granted that right.

Will volunteers work inside the stadium during Super Bowl XLVIII?
On game day, the Host Committee will not require any volunteer support inside MetLife stadium.
Is there an age requirement?
All volunteers need to be at least 18 years of age as of November 1st, 2013.
Do volunteers need to attend training?
All volunteers are required to attend at least one training session specific to their volunteer activity.
What will Super Bowl XLVIII volunteers do?
Volunteers will work as greeters at airport terminals, train stations, and other transportation sites, provide information at hotels and tourist locations, and assist with NFL events and other special events.
How many shifts do volunteers have to work?
Volunteers must be available to work a minimum of 2 shifts (3-4 hours each) for the volunteer assignment they choose.

Volunteers will not receive tickets to the Super Bowl.

The NFL controls all ticketing for Super Bowl XLVIII and demand is expected to be very high. The greatest number of tickets will be made available to the teams participating in the game, as well as sponsors, broadcasters and other business partners.

Where do I get tickets for MetLife Stadium events, Jets games and Giants games?
Tickets for events at MetLife Stadium and Giants and Jets games are sold directly through those organizations.
How do I get to the game?
Final decisions have yet to be made regarding the transportation to the stadium for the game. However, we will be encouraging the use of public transportation methods wherever available. Stay tuned for more information about getting in and around MetLife Stadium.
What kind of security precautions will be taken at MetLife Stadium?
We take your safety seriously! The Super Bowl warrants the highest level of security classification for public events and as such dictates that all security efforts will be headed up by Homeland Security. Additional security is provided by the FBI, state and local officials. NYPD and the NJSP are already working together to coordinate their efforts across the region. Volunteers during the weeks surrounding and during the game period will need to submit to a background check.
Will it snow? What happens if it snows on game day?
We’re excited to host the first outdoor, cold-weather Super Bowl. In case of inclement weather, snow and ice removal are of the highest concern. An intricate and involved plan will be in place for snow and ice removal. Check this site as game day nears for more detailed weather and transportation updates so you can ensure your trip to the game is as smooth as possible, no matter the weather.
